The Arjolle Estate came to be in 1974, under the impetus of Prosper and Louis-Marie Teisserenc. The objectives from the very beginning were based on the essential pillars of quality, diversity, and production of excellent wine. Today these values continue to dominate the work of the estate.
These two pioneering and visionary brothers focused very early on renewal of vintage varieties, with the adoption first of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc. The freedom they were accorded with the Côtes de Thongue appellation gave them the opportunity to produce vintage and blended wines with character and charm.
People who work at Arjolle are passionate about their work. They are always ready to give their best to make outstanding wine, whether they are out in the vineyards, in the cellar, or working in production. Their drive is to make wine that is truly worthy of the Arjolle prestige.
There is a marvelous mosaic of diversity in the lands and soils of the Arjolle Estate, just like the vintners who work the land and the wines that are produced here.
While some spots, like the Pechs Heights (hills) offer sweeping vistas over wide, rolling spaces, others, like the banks of the Thongue are much more intimate. There is a common denominator that links all of the Arjolen soils. They are bountiful and generous and give the best of themselves.
Concerned about the economic realities, Domaine de l’Arjolle strives to produce quality grapes while respecting the environment and the consumer.
For this reason, the traceability and the charter of sustainable agriculture underpin our professional life projects.
The Terra Vitis approach enables winemakers to strive for the preservation of landscapes and life in the vineyards. Recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, this certification attests to a sustainable agriculture that involves controlled practices, therefore being a proof of a total transparency towards the consumer.
Faithful to its philosophy, the Arjolle estate searches for optimal quality grapes according to the types of wines being produced.
Harvest date is selected one parcel at a time, and it must correspond to exact maturity criteria. This is accounted for during grapes taste-testing (we’re looking for harmony between the skin, the pulp, and the seeds), but also through lab analyses (degree of alcohol content of the grapes; concentration of sugars, etc.).
